Weekend Ed. Quote

“Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles, but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next.”

Holiday Writing and Craft Download

Here is a great, easy writing and art exercise for the holidays. I saw these evergreen-inspired illustrations made into simple cards and gift tags from the December issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine.  They were so simple and elegant—just like what the holidays should be!

Here is the link: http://www.bhg.com/PineDesigns.

Holiday card and gift tag design

Encourage students to create cards for school personnel as well as family.
As a unique twist on using the gift tags, print out and inscribe a gift tag for each of your students. Include a few words that refer to a gift that each of your students has given you during the year.

Examples:
“You gave me the gift of your prompt arrival in class this year”
“Thank you for your gift of listening”
“Thank you for helping others this year”

Enjoy!

Weekend Ed. Quote~December 1

students in class“The core of any student’s education was once the 3Rs: reading, writing and arithmetic. But in the 21st century, educators are just as likely to be talking about the 4Cs: critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity.”
