October is Connected Educator month — #CE15 How are you celebrating Connectivity?
The key goals of Connected Educator month include:
- Expanding the reach of CEM by growing a global coalition of education stakeholder groups and partners
- Documenting and communicating the measurable impact of CEM and connected education
- Acquiring sufficient resources to achieve year-round sustainability
- Influencing the way professional learning takes place in and out of schools
- Fostering collaboration and innovation within and between education stakeholder groups and partners

In conjuntion with Connected Educator Month, Common Core Conversation is holding a Lesson-A-Thon all month on edmodo. The goal is to collect 31 lessons in 31 days that integrate the Common Core Standards in various content areas and grade levels.

CEM BOOK CLUB LAUNCHES
The Connected Educators book club has launched, and is now taking signups for participation.
The book featured for Connected Educator Month is Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach’s The Connected Educator, Learning in a Digital Age.
Sheryl has graciously agreed to join the book club for all the sessions.
The first club meeting will be on August 8th (but the club is designed so you can keep up asynchronously on your own schedule as well).

The US Department of Education has declared the month August to recognize the first Connected Educator Month.
Connected Educator Month’s aim is broadening and deepening educator participation in online communities and networks while providing opportunities for education leaders to work together to move forward faster.
