Weekend Ed. Quote ~ June 2

“Action research is defined as any systematic inquirey conducted by teachers, administrators, counselors, or others, with a vested interest in the teaching and learning process or environment for the purpose of gathering information about how their particular schools operate, how they teach, and how their students learn (Mills, 2011). More important, action research is characterized as research that is done by teachers for temselves. It is trualy a systematic inquiry into one’s own practice (Johnson, 2008). Action reseaarc allows teachers to study their own classrooms ~ for example, their own instructional methods, their own students, and their own assessments 0 in order to better understand them and to be able to improve their quality or effectiveness. It focuses specifically on the unique characteristics of the population with whom a practice is employed or with whom some action must be taken. This, in turn results in increased utility and effectiveness for the practioner (Parsons & Brown, 2002).” ~Craig Mertler, 2009, p. 4.
