Take TPaCK into the New Year
As you welcome new colleagues to your team/school/PLN, how you would identify their technology interest and comfort level? One way to do this is through a discussion of the TPaCK instructional framework. TPaCK combines technological acumen with pedagogy and content knowledge with . TPaCK measures the “interactions among content, pedagogy, and technological knowledge” (Koehler & Mishra, 2009, p. 66). Strong correlations among the components helps teachers identify effective practices that will enrich students’ learning experiences (Teague, 2017).
TPaCK combines pedagogy and content knowledge with technological acumen.
Assessing a colleague’s fluency with TPaCK can be done through two questions:
- Are you familiar with the TPaCK instructional framework?
- What resources do you consult to help you keep current with research-based teaching and learning strategies?
I created an online, 2-question survey with Survey Anyplace to measure my colleagues’ TPaCK fluency. The results from a random sample of participants will appear in a future post.
